The ‘Ganny is a special place. A Jamestown icon, one of the last local spots, well-steeped in tradition. And it’s going to stay that way.

We don’t like to brag, but The Narragansett Cafe has been a perennial winner of best blues hangout, best neighborhood bar and best place for live music by Rhode Island Monthly.

The Narragansett Cafe opened in the 1940s and was mainly a fishermen’s bar. These days, the weekend crowd at ‘The Ganny is a mix of locals of all ages, visitors from out of town, and even the occasional celebrity blending in with the crowd.

Long, straight-style bars have become the standard, but the horseshoe-style bar is coming back in style, as trends do. The Narragansett Cafe still has its original horseshoe-style bar, which contributes to the welcoming, community atmosphere.

The Narragansett Cafe has had its fair share of nicknames: The’ Ganny, The Narry… and way back in the day, The Bucket of Blood. No matter what you call it, it’s the best spot in town for good food, good music, and good times.
