The40 has been on the scene since November of 2018 playing music that covers Rhythm and Blues and Rock n’ Roll with a powerful dose of funky Soul.
The40 is comprised of veteran musicians who come from various areas of the country and have blended together a powerful sound that has audiences moving and grooving!
Ray Davis – Bass/Vocals – A versatile vocalist and solid bass player who has been a fixture of the New England music scene for decades. He is a Founding member of The40 and previously performed in Rhode Island’s premier Beatles Band, Abbey Rhode. Also performed with Blueblood, Little Brother, Radio Ranch, Detroit Street, The Kevin Sullivan Band and TheNew40. Ray hails from the Cleveland/Kent/Akron Ohio area where he played professionally before relocating to Rhode Island and has opened for Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, NRBQ, Dave Mason, Chuck Mangione, Roomful of Blues, Ronnie Earl, The Guess Who, John Entwistle etc.
Nick Manousos – Guitar/Vocals – Nick, is a veteran Blues style/Rock guitarist who grew up in Northern California before moving to Dallas, Texas as a long-time member of the notorious, Vince Vance and the Valiants. As a testament to their recording success and national popularity, Vince Vance and The Valiants were inducted into the 2010 Louisiana Music Hall of Fame, (past inductees include, Dr. John, The Neville Bros., Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino and The Meters). The real question is Nick a six string Jedi-master or Texas Tsunami? YOU BE THE JUDGE!
Alex Radiches – Drums -Alex picked up his first pair of drumsticks at age 10 and has been keeping the beat since. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he is best known for his versatility and passion for playing. Well versed in jazz, blues, rock and soul, Alex has played with Valvatross, The Stormin’ Horns, the Pontiac Blues Band, Hurricane and Barkode Jazz Trio. His keen ability to read charts, coupled with his knowledge of just about every musical genre, keeps Alex in demand as a “go to” sub for many bands, including studio recording.
Tom Shaheen – Harmonica/Vocals – A Boston area veteran powerhouse harp player who has shared the stage with James Cotton and fronted the Diving Ducks Blues Band, opening for local hero James Montgomery amongst others. He has also performed with The Muddy Wolf Blues Band and Midnight Snack. Tom’s main influences are harmonica greats: Mark Ford, Kim Wilson, Paul Butterfield, Lester Butler and Richard Calitri.
Kevin Simon – Keyboards – A New Englander before moving to Austin, Texas in his early twenties with The Big Nasty. Toured all over the Southwest and did a European tour with Chuck Berry. Moved from Austin to Philadelphia and played in numerous funk and soul bands before moving back to Austin for more Southwest touring. Now back in Rhode Island, a freelance musician playing with The40 and doing session work.
